Can you donate a life?
Try asking this question to yourself & see if you get some answers. Let’s make it easy for you. ‘Donate’ is a word that is often associated with ‘Giving’. ‘Giving’ is a great gesture, but is always one sided. Whatever you give doesn’t stay with you, & this feeling is something we all fear. It takes courage to give. But then, how do you donate without a dent? Only when you SHARE!
Of course, sharing is an even awesome gesture. In fact, it’s not a gesture; it’s an emotion. And it doesn’t even take guts. Just a heart that we’ve all got. So friends, ‘to donate’ is not about giving; but about sharing. Sharing things that you have, but others don’t. Sharing thoughts that you hold, but others don’t. Sharing life that you live, but others don’t.
Now let’s ask that question again. Can you donate a life, or can you ‘share’ a life, that too without your social networks? Yes you can. All you need to do is to share your blood; that you’ve got in plenty, with those who don’t & are desperate to live again. A unit of your blood that you will restore within 48 hours, gifts a life to the daughters, brothers, sons, mothers, friends & loved ones of so many people & lets them live once more. It gives you a healthy rejuvenation too, as every time you donate blood, you produce more of it that’s of even better quality. And don’t worry; it’s totally safe, doesn’t pain at all & doesn’t cost a thing.
Su-Kam believes & propagates this fresh thought. And our belief led us to organize an event in alliance with the Rotary Blood Bank, Delhi on the 24th of this month. A lot of enthusiastic Su-Kamians played Good Samaritans & participated to share blood & donate a life to Thalassemic children, who need a unit of blood every 3 months. These children probably had more blood transfusions than they’ve had chocolates, & are missing their childhood. So we thought of starting with them first. We ensured that stringent safety procedures were undertaken for the donors & their good work was rewarded with a souvenir to cherish. Su-Kam has taken its first step, & requests you to join hands to take this initiative forward & share this philosophy to the world. After all, we all have something to share in life, isn’t it!
