Here’s How I Save Rs. 25k/month After Installing Solar at My Petrol Pump in Moga, Punjab

Why did they install solar power?

Mr. Tarun owns a petrol pump in Moga District, Punjab. The area that this petrol pump is located in experiences massive power cuts. Every day, electricity here is available only for about 12 hours.

For this petrol pump, Tarun and his family spent INR 25000 on running a diesel generator that provided power to run the load of this petrol pump 24/7. Tarun discussed his problem with his neighbours and family. He found out how people in Punjab are turning to solar and getting relief from this frustrating problem.

He heard the story about a family friend who got his monthly electricity bill of INR 15000 reduced every month by going solar and got very inspired.

Moga district approximately receives 11 hours 50 mins of daylight every day in this month of March, therefore installing a solar system in this area was a perfect solution.

To turn his petrol pump into a solar powered pump, he contacted Mr. Kuldeep, Su-Kam’s authorized distributor in Punjab (Suntek Solar). Kuldeep has been dealing with solar system installations for a while now and after careful inspection of the filling station, he and his team of qualified engineers gave the following suggestions—

Technical Specifications:

  1. Su-Kam’s Colossal Inverter – 7.5KVA/120V
  2. Su-Kam Charge controller – 120V/60amps
  3. Su-Kam’s Solar panels – 5KW
  4. Sukam’s batteries – 10 (150AH)

Units generated and load running

The 5 KW solar panel generates approximately 25 units per day depending on the weather conditions. The system runs the entire load of the petrol pump that essentially includes 4 fuel dispensers, 15 LEDs, and about 4 fans. Mr. Tarun is extremely happy seeing his petrol pump turn into a solar powered station.

After the installation, we spoke to Kuldeep and he said, ‘We have installed a 7.5 KVA inverter with solar panels and charge controller that will ensure proper battery charging and is designed to run the full load of the petrol pump. They will not need to use a diesel generator at all. From this month, the batteries and solar power will provide enough backup to run the load in the day and also at night. They will straight away save Rs. 25000 every month once the initial investment in the solar system is recovered.’

It is a pleasure to see people really believing in solar power. We are glad to see another happy solar customer in India. Going solar has never been easier.
