If you have been following Su-Kam’s blogs, you might have read a number of articles on how Su-Kam has outdone itself in the Yemen city. Su-Kam is not just an inverter battery manufacturing company. It isn’t just a revenue generating company either. Su-Kam’s focus lies much beyond. It lies in places so far flung where electricity has no way of reaching. It is in such areas where Su-Kam feels proud to see its establishments. By focusing on solar powered energy, the company has brought light into the lives of millions of people.
HOW THIS STUDENT LEARNT ABOUT SOLAR AND DECIDED TO SAVE HIS PARENTS’ MONEY!
Here is the story of a student who studies in Yemen and discovered that his house will benefit many folds if they switched to solar. But before this story, a little history about Yemen. Yemen as we all know has been going through a devastating civil war since the last year which directly resulted in massive amounts of power cuts.
Yemen has seen no electricity for over a couple of months that greatly affected the lives of the people living there. But Yemen soon turned things around turned to solar power to light up their homes. Almost every house in Yemen runs on solar now.
Mr. Abdo Alhameed Al-someri, a student studying in Yemen wanted his house to run on solar. This house a family of 10 members was spending approximately 8000 RY monthly on electricity bills and an exorbitant 26400 RY on diesel generator expenses. His father, spends many hours outside home since he works outside Yemen.
After seeing the expenditure and the frequent power cuts situation in his home he decided it was time for them to switch to solar. And so he contacted Su-Kam’s authorized dealers located in Yemen- Mr. Mohammed Abdo and Mr. Mohammed Alfahad. They gave the job of this installation to Mr. Zakria Al-shawafi, their hardworking engineer. He advised for the following system to be installed in their home –
- Su-Kam’s Fusion-I – 2.5KVA/36V
- Su-Kam’s Solar panels– 150W (6 in number)
- Su-Kam’s Batteries – 200AH/12V (3 in number)
- Su-Kam’s PWM Solar Charge Controller– 36V
LOAD RUNNING and UNITS GENERATED
The solar system generated an average of 8 to 13 units of electricity in a day and runs major part of the house load like refrigerators, tube lights, fans, washing machine etc approximately 1900W. The installation was a major success. Yemen receives a large amount of sunlight that will ensure that all the house load is powered on solar power for the whole day.
Mr. Zakria says ‘This system has really helped this home. We are happy that our new customer is pleased with the installation. Just like this house Su-Kam has helped power a number of homes in Yemen through solar power’.
Mr. Abdo is an inspiration for not only Yemen but for all the students across the world to learn about the growing benefits of solar energy and to implement it practically in their homes.
We wish him and his family all the best!
