Rural Electrification Corporation, A Government of India enterprise, has initiated this “Solar Electrical Training Programme” for the economically weaker sections of society in association with Advit foundation.
The program shall be rolled out in a phased manner in other colleges in the country with the first step being taken at DAV college, Mahindergarh.
New Delhi, September 7th, 2013: Su-Kam Power Systems has become the technology partner in the “Solar Electrical Training Programme” offered by Rural Electrification Corporation, A Government of India enterprise in association with Advit Foundation as part of the curriculum of Engg. and ITI students. The Engineering and ITI colleges receiving this addition in their curriculum shall belong to economically backward regions of the country. The program shall be rolled out in a phased manner in other colleges in the country with the first step being taken at DAV college, Mahindergarh.
In line with a significant component of the 12th Five Year Plan (2012-2017) which emphasises on generation and absorption of trained manpower in various areas, the Rural Electrification Corporation, A Government of India enterprise, has initiated a “Solar Electrical Training Programme” as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility. The programme spanning from August 2013 to December 2013 is being implemented by Advit Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation based in Gurgaon. Technology partner for the same is Su-Kam Power Systems Limited.
This programme is being initiated in order to meet the demand for trained manpower in the aggressively growing Indian Solar market. It will span over a period of 5 months and is expected to churn out 200 qualified engineers and technicians who are well versed with the technicalities as well as the economics of Solar Photovoltaic. Successfully trained candidates will then be assisted in job placement in the Solar industry.
During the course of the training, candidates will undergo classroom training as well as hands-on Solar workshops. The sessions will be designed and conducted by professionals working in the Solar industry. The Solar equipments and devices for hands-on training have been sponsored by Su-Kam Power Systems Limited. As Technology Partner for this project, Su-Kam adds value through their expertise in the domain of energy efficient technology.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr Ashish Sethi, GM-Solar at Su-Kam Power Systems said, “In the present scenario of excessive pressure on the renewable energy sources in India and abroad, the future of power generation shall see a great shift towards renewable energy, solar being the topmost source. The solar industry shall grow by leaps and bounds in the coming years and trained professionals who have a sound knowledge of solar technology shall be required by industries and institutions.”

The programme was inaugurated this week at DAV College of Engineering and Technology, Kanina, Mahendergarh amidst dignitaries from the Rural Electrification Corporation and Su-Kam Power Systems Limited. The successful implementation of this project will result in a trained, industry-ready workforce in Solar Energy from Mahendergarh which will help the industry meet its workforce demands, along with an improvement in the lives of the young engineers from Mahendergarh.
