Su-Kam Power Systems Ltd and Kohler India Corp, Indian arm of US-based Kohler Corporation, has joined hands to supply, distribute and market the UPS and new business areas like rental power. Under this agreement, Su-Kam Power Systems will market and distribute diesel and gas generators manufactured at the Kohler’s plant in Aurangabad.
This joint venture will produce diesel generators ranging from 2.5 KVA to 12.5 KVA , while the gas generators will come in ratings of 14 KVA and 20 KVA.
Commenting on this, Kanav Sachdeva, officer-on-special-duty to the managing director of Su-Kam said, ” The demand for gas generators will rise in India as gas pipelines are being laid in major cities. In Maharashtra, Su-Kam is targeting cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Aurangabad in the first phase. Su-Kam will develop intelligent power back-up solutions, engineered to be energy efficient and thus reduce the user’s carbon footprint.”
Su Kam will be manufacturing the automotive batteries mainly for Maruti Suzuki vehicles from a new plant set up in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. The plant has a capacity of producing 100,000 units per year.
Adding further, he said, “Su Kam is looking forward for the expansion in the next two years. We are aiming at Rs 850 crore turnover from Rs 600 crore. We have 40 per cent market share in the power back-up solutions market. The company has a robust dealer network of 12,000 dealers in India. There is also a well-established service network, which will soon be strengthened by the introduction of a service van in Maharashtra, to provide doorstep service to the consumer. There are plans to restructure the business into seven verticals. Also, we are tying up with an Israeli company to manufacture UPS in the higher range, upto 500 KVA.”
