Imagine life without electricity!
There will be no light as the sun sets and no fans to cool you down in the scorching heat! Yes, that is exactly what the villagers of Fakir Pura and Chanduahar in Uttar Pradesh were going through until solar energy system came into their lives.
Villagers Had Never Experienced Electricity
Fakir Pura and Chanduahar are two small villages in UP with a population of about 2500 people. The village inhabitants have never seen light after dawn.
“After sun set, we used lanterns and solar emergency lights so that we could do household work and our children could study. We traveled to nearby towns and villages to watch movies and to provide computer education to our children. The biggest problem was when we couldn’t water our crops because we couldn’t operate water pumps”, says Mulak Chand, one of the villagers
Life After Su-Kam Solar Power !
Besides having street lights and electricity in houses, the biggest benefit of solar will be to improve the agriculture in these villages. The villages have always been highly vulnerable during monsoon which sometimes wreck the source of livelihood for many villagers. They had to spend money to hire water pumps from adjoining towns but now they will be self sufficient.
Solar has brought smiles on the faces of women too. “Earlier we would seldom go out after sun set because we felt unsafe in the dark but now we have no problem – the street lights shine bright during nights”, says inhabitant of Fakir Pura, Bimla Devi.
Kudos to team Su-Kam!

This setup will Power 517 households and 15 agriculture pumps
250 KW mini grid solar system is a mini plant which provides electricity to the village houses & farmers’ land through the distribution line. A total of one thousand solar panels have been used in this project. 100 KVA inverter used in this project will give output of three phases of alternating current (AC) supply.
