This School in Rajasthan Had No Electricity Until It Installed Solar

This story is about a nursery school located in Jaipur that recently decided to go solar! We often talk about the problem of powercut, but imagine living in an area where there is no electricity at all. This school didn’t have any grid supply of electricity until they installed solar. Now, the kids finally have fans and tubelights in their classrooms. They are happy and so are we!


How Did Solar Power Help This School?

The Sagas school is located in a remote location of Jaipur. Since this school was constructed, it faced the problem of no electricity in the school at all times. There are no electricity lines in that area. The students, teachers and management struggled with this for months, until finally they decided to go in for solar power.

Jaipur city located in Indian state, Rajasthan receives ample amount of sunlight. With an average of 13 hour and 30 minutes of day light, a solar installation would be perfect for this area. Su-Kam’s authorized distributor, Ram Kripta enterprises then then took up the responsibility to install a solar system in that school. They took the help of Su-kam’s in house engineer located in Jaipur branch, Mr. Naveen to carry out this installation.


After a detailed site inspection, Naveen decided to install Su-Kam’s Solar PCU in that school.

What Is a Solar Power Conditioning Unit?

Su-Kam’s solar power conditioning unit serves both as a solar charge controller and inverter. It is a unique hybrid system which can charge batteries through solar and grid. As solar panels make DC electricity, it goes to the solar PCU which converts DC into AC to power electrical load, and stores the remaining DC electricity in batteries. When there is a deficit of solar power, solar PCU intelligently runs the connected load on solar energy stored in batteries.

Load Running and Units Generated

The system generates approximately 10 to 12 units of electricity every day, depending upon the weather conditions and runs the load of the school that includes 8 fans, 8 tubelights and one fridge and one cooler.

This installation was a success and management of the school is now happy to see their school turn into a solar powered school. The system is able to power the appliances fully during the day and all through the night by battery backup.


We had a candid conversation with Mr. Naveen after the installation and he told us, ‘We have installed Su-Kam’s 3KW solar PCU in this school. I have installed a number of Su-Kam solar power conditioning units and I have not received any complaint as of now. There is an increasing demand of solar PCU across Jaipur.’
