This Sweet Shop in Belgaum Runs 8 Computers, 2 Printers and One Fridge on Solar. But How?

Why Solar?

Om Sugars is a sweet shop located in Karnataka. The area where this shop is located was facing a troublesome situation of frequent power cuts. Since this shop required freezers and other equipment to run for 24 hours, they wanted to install a system in their shop that could power the equipment continuously.

Su-Kam’s online UPS ranges from 1KVA to 100KVA and is designed and developed to provide uninterrupted power supply to small and large scale enterprises that makes it an excellent power back up option for areas affected with frequent power cuts.

Why Should You Choose an Online UPS?

The reason why an online UPS is called ‘online’ is because the batteries are ‘always’ connected to UPS so power transfers are not required. As in, no power transfer from mains mode to battery mode or battery mode to mains mode. So we can say there is zero change over time. But how is that useful? The online UPS is perfect for equipment’s that are highly sensitive to power switches. They shut down and cannot resume normal functioning in the situation of power transfers from mains to battery mode and vice versa.

A generator will lose its efficiency with time. They need periodic maintenance from authorized agencies which costs a lot more. You don’t really have to worry about that with an online UPS. Just install and forget.  Solar power can actually be utilized through an online UPS to charge batteries by using an external solar charge controller. That can help further reduce the cost of electricity. Solar power on the other hand cannot be utilized through a generator. Generators can run only on fuels such as petrol, diesel, kerosene etc.

Then our authorized distributor from Karnataka Mr. Premanand advised them to install Su-kam’s online UPS in their shop. After understanding their load requirements, he installed the following:

Technical Specifications:

  1. Su-Kam’s Online UPS – 3KVA/96V
  2. Tubular Batteries – 8 in number
  3. Su-Kam solar panels – 2KW
  4. Su-Kam PWM Solar Charge Controller – 96V

Load Running and Units Generated

This solar system will generate approximately 10 to 15 units of electricity every day. The system is currently running 8 computers and 2 printers in the shop.

The installation was a success. Mr Premanand says, ‘We have installed over 50 systems across Karnataka. I have complete faith in Su-Kam’s solar systems. We have installed online UPS here in Om Sugars since they required back up for 24 hours. The system is in working condition and they should face no problems with the system.’

We are glad that so many people in Karnataka are understanding the significance of solar power and opting for the same.
